How is it a "clear sign of low intelligence" you stupid fucking cunt?
A small vocabulary is a sign of low intelligence. If you cuss alot you most often have a small vocabulary.

A small vocabulary is a sign of a small vocabulary, the need to critique someone on their spelling, grammar, and vocabulary is a clear sign of insecurity. Sucking Websters dick and using big words doesn't make you "intelligent.&q uot;

How can something be a sign of what it is? Sucking at grammar is a pet peeve of mine. I majored in languages, when someone doesn't even know how to use their main language it buggs me. If you think I'm insecure or not couldn't concerne me less. I don't use big words, with English being my fourth language, or the dictionary just to put that out there.

You majored in languages? Well no wonder then, I majored in engineering and hard sciences and I can tell you that critical thinking is way more important than "language" seeing as how there are hundreds of languages in the world. Grammar Nazis don't realize that in actuality, grammar is too ambiguous to have a rigid standard, and that though basic grammar is necessary, most grammar rules are not, and can restrict good expression. The ability to communicate both colorfully and effectively is way more admirable than perfect grammar.

Uh, please. I was one class away from also majoring in "hard sciences" I didn't feel like paying $100 take the exams. I won't need it so I stuck with the classes I had at school.
There's five or so major languages, I think one should be able to commiunicate in one or more.
Also, in order to be able to communicate in a colorful and effective way you need to know the language. Grammar rules and spelling are not permanent. What I learn today might be different in ten years, two even. I don't mind people messing up every once and then aslong as I am able to understand the point. It just hurt when you butcher your own mother tongue or main language.

Well your problem is you didnt take the time to study it on your own if you couldnt afford to take the classes, I study plenty of hard sciences and information on my own without being required too because I'm fascinated by it and thirsty for understanding and truth. But like I said basic grammar may be important but it's not absolutely necessary to be 100% more important and dictate intelligence, it's really shallow to say that someones grammar and education constitutes their level of intelligence. If we moved to some far away desolate civilization where the people were very primitive and spoke a language that no one has ever heard of. My skills in engineering and critical thinking ability would be far more useful than your language knowledge because it would take you time to learn and speak their language. While I could immediately crank out my understanding of the language of the universe and get the civilization up to speed and running with other engineers and scientist who seek truth.

Well I did study on my own, I had excess to the books so why not? I knew enough to pass the exams with flying colours. I just didn't sign up for them because there's no use for me and chemistry for example was the same time as my English civics exam. I wouldn't be able to take them even if I wanted. I still study science in and out of university. I have several friends who are doctorates, have or are taking their master degree. They teach me things within their fields. I'm constantly learning and I am glad to.
It seems like you're mixing up intelligence and knowledge. You may be intelligent and stupid as shit. It's just that if your intelligence is low you have to work harder to learn. It's still possible to learn if you want to. Language is just an indication of your intelligence, if you're bad at it doesn't necessarily mean that you're stupid or have a low intelligence.

You could crank all you wanted to that tribe, they wouldn't understand shit because you don't speak the same language. Finger language, show and point would only get you so far. How would you explain gas? How would you teach them math if they don't know about numbers? You also fail to realize that there's science in the field of languages too. I would most likely, knowing the field of linguistics, learn their way of speaking before you and then end up teaching them.

I know exactly the difference between intelligence and knowledge, although before it seemed you were trying to imply the grammar dictates intelligence. Which is also based on knowledge, you could argue that someone who cant speak their own native tongue properly is ignorant and dumb, meaning lacking knowledge. But you cant say that they have a lack of intelligence because any monkey can brush up on their grammar, and you really don't know peoples full potential. It could be really shocking. And that's the thing, I wouldnt have to learn their language immediately, I'm saying that science and engineering would be much more useful than a language major, and what sciences in the language field are you talking about?

What I said that it is a sign of low intelligence, just like grey clouds are a sign of rain. It doesn't always rain, because it's just a sign.
Both majors are important. In the case you explained a major in languages would be better.
Linguistics, the science of human languages. Some of it is actually really hard.
