Only way Neji wins is if Byakugan somehow makes the user immune to genjutsu. Otherwise, Sharingan is a pure win.

He was not able to "see through" a genjutsu. He was able to see that a genjutsu had been cast on Mifune. That feat does not support a feat relating to an immunity against genjutsu, does it?

but no one else could see that but him...and if you could see it could see someone else under a genjutsu wouldn't you be able to see if you were in one yourself?

Not unless Byakugan can see oneself. And the particular genjutsu was Kotoamatsukami, a genjutsu that bends the users will accordingly. Even if the Byakugan user knows its been put on him, if he does not know how to cancel it, its useless.

The other genjutsus are apparant. THe target (Byakugan user in this case) would definitely know that hes been put under a genjutsu, say Tsukiyomi. There is no necessary method for a Byakugan user that they can use to escape a genjutsu that anyone else cannot. So really a moot point in that. A genjutsu takes control of the senses and only way to escape is through chakra disruption. Byakugan does not have any powers to achieve this feat.

you cant say that the limits of the byakugan has yet to be shown and hyugas are masters of chakra control so if they realized they were in a genjutsu its safe to say they would b able to break it seeing as you only need to disrupt the current chakra flow to break a genjutsu...in nejis case he would probably already be prepared for genjutsu going into battle with saskue...and saskues genjutsu isnt strong as itachis or shisuis so I wouldnt use that as major factor in a battle between them, neji losing because of saskues genjutsu....doesn't sound likely at all

Only possible way Neji could possibly escape a genjutsu, if his bodily movement and will is not restricted, may be by subjecting himself to the soft fist technique. Not sure how hes going to do that, but thus far in the series, none of the Byakugan users has either faced off against or shown capable of walking out of genjutsu. Theres really no reason we can assume otherwise.

Ao is his name right? If I'm correct he is a specialist in sensory, so having the Byakugan could have possibly amplified his passive ability. There was a saying long ago about how the Byakugan's full potential wasn't reached, which is why there are so many levels to the attacks the Hyuuga uses. However, based on the current story, there is no way possible the Byakugan could defeat the Sharingan. A Susano alone would destroy any user with the Byakugan, and considering how each Susano has its own versions, items, or techniques, it just adds more odd that favors the Sharingan.

Neji would own saskue at any point in he show before he awakened the Susano....think about it neji out classes him in taijutsu and unless saskue could find a way through his rotation his jutsu will pretty much be nullified...the only jutsu I think has a shot of getting through is kirin And by the time he would have it ready to launch he would already have lost the fight....then factor in neji is shutting off his chakra with his attacks... idk I think y'all putting to much faith in saskue and underestimating neji
