A country's hidden ninja village represent a country's military power. There are 5 to be considered the most powerful and influential. Each representing one of the 5 great countries: the Fire Country, the Wind Country, the Water Country, the Lightning Country, and the Earth Country.

A village's ruler and element

The 5 kagesEach village is ruled by a Kage, and respresents its country's element type. Meaning a ninja from a certain country will use (in most cases) jutsus which involves his/her country's element. There are 10 countries total. The other 5 being the Sound Country, the Rain Country, the Grass Country, the Wave Country, and the Waterfall Country.

Hidden Leaf Village
Located in the Land of Fire, the Hidden Leaf Village is the largest and most powerful of all Hidden Shinobi Villages.
Hidden Sand Village
Located in the Wind Country, the Hidden Sand Village is one of the top 5 hidden shinobi villages, and currently an ally to Konoha.
Hidden Mist Village
The Hidden Mist Village, commonly referred to by other villages as 'Bloody Mist Village' for its rumored brutality.
Hidden Waterfall Village
Only seen in Naruto's Jump Festa 2004 so far. Akatsuki member Kakuzu is a missing-nin from Hidden Waterfall.
Hidden Sound Village
The recently formed Hidden Sound Village, located in the Sound Country. Ruled and created by Orochimaru.
Hidden Cloud Village
At one time the Hidden Cloud Village attempted to attack and destroy Konoha, betraying a peace treaty. The Hidden Cloud's shinobi lost miserably.
Hidden Rain Village
During the Chuunin Exam a Rain-team was wiped out by Gaara. Akatsuki member Hidan is a missing-nin from Hidden Rain.
Hidden Rock Village
Little is known, except for their violent past with the Hidden Leaf. Akatsuki member Deidara is a missing-nin from Hidden Rock.
Hidden Grass Village
Zetsu, an Akatsuki member, is a missing-nin from this village. He left his home village behind and joined Akatsuki.
